The Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, has reported increased maritime activity across major Lagos ports, with eight vessels currently berthed at Lekki, Tin Can Island and Apapa ports awaiting discharge of various consignments, including petrol, bulk fertiliser, gasoline and urea.
This was disclosed in the agency’s latest “Shipping Position” report released on Thursday in Lagos, which provides updates on vessel traffic and cargo movement within the nation’s seaports.
According to the document, no fewer than 46 additional vessels carrying a wide range of cargo are expected to arrive at the Apapa, Lekki and Tin Can Island ports between April 30 and May 10.
The anticipated shipments include buckwheat, containers, fresh fish, crude oil, bulk wheat, petrol, base oil, aviation fuel and other general cargo.
The NPA further indicated that port operations remain active, with 21 vessels already docked and currently offloading goods such as containers, petrol, bulk gas, aviation fuel, crude oil, bulk gypsum, truck cargo, wheat, fresh fish and urea.
