Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare has completed a season long loan move from English Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers to Dutch giants Ajax for the 2026/27 campaign.
The agreement between both clubs includes an option for Ajax to make the move permanent at the end of the season if the Nigerian forward performs well.
The move gives Arokodare another opportunity to revive his career after finding it difficult to establish himself at Wolves. The striker will also hope to become the latest Nigerian player to enjoy success at Ajax, following in the footsteps of football legends such as Finidi George, Nwankwo Kanu, Tijani Babangida and Sunday Oliseh, who all made lasting impressions during their time with the former European champions.
The 25 year old joined Wolves from Belgian Pro League side KRC Genk last summer after an outstanding campaign in Belgium. However, he struggled to adapt to life in the English Premier League and managed just three goals and one assist in 33 league appearances for the Molineux club.
Despite his difficult spell in England, Arokodare remains highly rated because of his impressive goalscoring record. He finished as the top scorer in the Belgian Pro League during the 2024/25 season, a performance that earned him a move to the Premier League.
Ajax will be hoping the Nigerian striker can rediscover the form that made him one of the most dangerous forwards in Belgium as they prepare for the new season and their domestic and European campaigns.
