Accord stuns in Oyetola’s hometown, Davido reacts

Afrobeats star Davido has reacted to the reported victory of the Accord Party in the hometown of former Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola, during the ongoing governorship election in the state.

Davido reacted to the development in a post on his official X account on Saturday, August 15, 2026, as results from polling units across Osun State continued to emerge.

The singer, who is known for regularly commenting on political and social issues, appeared to be amused by the result recorded in Oyetola’s hometown.

Reacting to the result, Davido wrote, “We dey flog Oyetola for him hometown.”

The statement quickly attracted attention on social media, particularly because of Oyetola’s political history in the state and his influence in the area.

The result from the former governor’s hometown was among those that generated interest as voters, political parties, journalists and observers monitored the counting and announcement of results from different polling units.

The Osun governorship election has witnessed voting across the state, with voters turning out at various polling units to choose their preferred candidates.

As voting ended in many areas, electoral officials began the process of counting ballots and announcing results at the polling-unit level.

Political supporters also followed the process closely, sharing results and reactions on social media as they awaited the official declaration.

Davido’s comment added to the growing online conversation surrounding the election, with his followers and other social media users reacting to his post.

The singer has previously used his social media platforms to comment on political developments and issues affecting Nigeria, particularly events in Osun State.

However, the results being circulated online are subject to the official collation and declaration by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

The commission is expected to collate results from the various polling units and wards before announcing the final outcome of the governorship election.
