The Benue State House of Assembly has recommended that the chairman of Kwande Local Government Area, Vitalis Neji, be suspended for three months.

The move comes after the chairman was found to have engaged in serious misconduct and misuse of his office.

An investigative committee set up by the House looked into the allegations and presented its findings.

The committee leader said that Neji appeared before them to defend himself but could not adequately address the charges against him.

After the report was presented and discussed by members of the assembly, they all agreed to support the committee’s recommendation.

The Speaker of the House then officially announced that Neji would be suspended for three months effective immediately.

The suspension will allow time for a fuller investigation into the allegations to continue. Neji remains suspended pending the outcome of that investigation.
