Nigerian rapper Emeka Akumefule, popularly known as Blaqbonez has confessed to getting his stage name from his friend, revealing that the name was not his original idea.
The rapper, while speaking during an interview, disclosed that the name initially belonged to a friend who loved rap but was not actively pursuing music.
Blaqbonez stated that he approached his friend and decided to take the name for himself, adding that the incident happened while he was still in school.
“I stole it, you know, it was my friend’s name. There was Blaqbonez and he wasn’t using it for anything, the guy, he liked rap, so he gave himself a rap name. He wasn’t even rapping, he wasn’t doing anything with the name. So, one day I just said, bro, you know, dey use this name. I like am, and that’s how I started bearing Blaqbonez. I swear. He’s not using it for anything. He’s not using it,” he said.
