Afrobeats artist Davido has disclosed that he endured financial constraints during his early recording career despite originating from an affluent family.
Speaking during a podcast episode that gained traction on Tuesday, he attributed his chart success “Back When” in which he articulated themes of financial scarcity and social rejection to genuine personal circumstances.
Davido recounted that his monetary difficulties materialised following his departure from his father’s household, a billionaire businessman who encouraged him to prioritise academic advancement over musical pursuits.
By declining paternal guidance and pursuing recording independently, he forfeited the material security his family background conventionally provided.
