The Federal Government has commenced recruitment into the Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service (NAQS), inviting qualified Nigerians to apply for vacancies in the Superintendent, Inspectorate and Assistant cadres.
The recruitment exercise opened on July 28, 2026, and will close on August 10, 2026. According to the Federal Character Commission, shortlisted applicants will proceed to a Computer Based Test (CBT) and interview later in August.
Interested candidates are required to apply through the official NAQS recruitment portal by creating an account, selecting their preferred cadre and position, completing the online application form, uploading the required credentials and submitting their applications before the deadline.
The agency warned that late applications or those that fail to follow the prescribed application procedure will be disqualified. It also stressed that the recruitment exercise is free and applicants should ignore anyone demanding payment for employment.
Available positions include Chief Superintendent of Quarantine Care, Deputy Superintendent of Quarantine, Assistant Superintendent of Quarantine II, Inspector of Quarantine I, II and III, as well as Quarantine Assistant I, II and III.
Educational requirements vary by cadre. Veterinary doctors are eligible for the Chief Superintendent position, while Deputy Superintendent applicants must possess a law degree or a relevant master’s degree. Assistant Superintendent candidates require a first degree, Inspectorate applicants need an OND or NCE, while Assistant cadre applicants must possess an SSCE, NECO or GCE certificate with at least five credits, including English Language and Mathematics.
Applicants must be Nigerian by birth, possess a valid National Identification Number (NIN), be medically fit, pass a drug test, have no criminal record and be computer literate. Male applicants must be at least 1.65 metres tall with a minimum chest measurement of 0.87 metres, while female applicants must be at least 1.55 metres tall.
The agency also listed categories of persons who are not eligible to apply, including individuals with severe speech or hearing impairment, total blindness, obesity, limb deformities, certain medical conditions and pregnant women due to the physical nature of the recruitment process.
According to the recruitment timetable, shortlisted candidates will be announced on August 13, while the Computer Based Test and interviews are scheduled for August 15, 2026.
