Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to promoting religious harmony and respecting the diversity of faiths across the state.
This is as Governor Adeleke congratulated traditional religion worshippers in the state and beyond on the occasion of this year’s Isese Day celebration, urging adherents to sustain religious tolerance and pray for peace and progress.
The governor, in a congratulatory message issued by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, on Thursday, noted that Isese Day holds significant importance for the identity and spirituality of traditional religion worshippers, describing the annual celebration as an opportunity to honour their faith and heritage.
He said the diversity of religious beliefs in Osun State remained an important part of the state’s identity and urged residents to continue to respect one another irrespective of their religious affiliations.
“I honour the rich tradition that defines this celebration, and congratulate every adherent, particularly in Osun State, on this remarkable occasion,” Adeleke said.
The governor said his administration had demonstrated respect for religious diversity through programmes and interventions designed to promote unity among residents.
“As Governor, I have demonstrated deep respect for the diversity in faiths of the people, tailoring our programmes and interventions to unite and not divide,” he said.
Adeleke urged traditional religion worshippers to use the Isese Day celebration to pray for peace and progress in Osun State and Nigeria.
He also appealed to adherents to conduct themselves responsibly and modestly throughout the celebration, while calling on all residents to continue promoting peaceful coexistence.
The governor also wished traditional religion worshippers a joyous celebration and assured residents that his administration would continue to deliver programmes and interventions aimed at improving the welfare of the people.
