The Kano State Government has approved a fresh round of senior civil service appointments, naming 19 new permanent secretaries while reassigning 14 serving permanent secretaries to different Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
The changes were announced on Tuesday by the Head of the Civil Service, Hajiya Bilkisu Shehu-Maimota, in a statement issued by the Director of Public Enlightenment in the Office of the Head of Civil Service, Rukayya Uba-Sulaiman.
According to the statement, the appointments place greater responsibility on the affected officials and are aimed at strengthening public service and enhancing governance across the state.
It stated that the newly appointed and redeployed permanent secretaries are expected to collaborate effectively with the leadership of their respective MDAs to drive the government’s development programmes and improve service delivery.
The statement further urged the officials to carry out their responsibilities with diligence, professionalism, integrity and accountability.
Shehu-Maimota expressed confidence that the permanent secretaries would live up to expectations and sustain the core principles of the Kano State Civil Service through excellence, transparency and innovation.
According to the statement, “the appointment is a call to greater responsibility and selfless service to people of the state.”
The statement added that the appointments and redeployments take immediate effect, while all handing over and taking over procedures must be concluded on or before August 12.
