The Acting Vice-Chancellor of Abdullahi Fodio University of Science and Technology, AFUSTA, Kebbi State, Professor Ismaila Mungadi, has resigned from his position.
Mungadi announced his resignation in a letter dated Friday, August 28, 2026, addressed to the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the University’s Governing Council.
In the letter, titled “Resignation from Appointment as Acting Vice-Chancellor, Abdullahi Fodio University of Science and Technology, Aliero,” Mungadi said his resignation would take effect from the same day.
He said he accepted the appointment with a mandate to stabilise the university, strengthen its governance processes, restore confidence and academic integrity, and facilitate its transition to substantive leadership.
Mungadi said he had devoted himself to the responsibility and worked with members of the university community and other stakeholders to make progress within the period he served.
He also expressed appreciation to the Kebbi State Governor, Dr Nasir Idris, for the confidence reposed in him and the opportunity to serve the university and the state.
However, he said developments in recent weeks had made it increasingly difficult for him to discharge his responsibilities with the independence, effectiveness and institutional harmony, which he considered necessary.
Mungadi said he had made efforts to resolve the emerging challenges through the appropriate structures but had reached the conclusion that he might no longer be able to satisfactorily accomplish the objectives for which he accepted the appointment.
He therefore said he considered resignation as the most appropriate course of action in the interest of the university.
The development comes nearly two months after the Kebbi State Government appointed Mungadi as Acting Vice-Chancellor of the university, following the dissolution of its Governing Council.
