The Metropolitan Police said she was considered a high-risk missing person, leading officers to search the property and ultimately make the sad discovery.
A 60-year-old woman, Nicole Beling, has been found dead at her home on Dittoncroft Close, in the South Croydon area, London. She was declared missing by a family member on July 17, 2026.
A 61-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and later released under investigation. He was rearrested on August 1 and has been bailed while enquiries continue.
The Metropolitan Police said she was considered a high-risk missing person, leading officers to search the property and ultimately make the sad discovery. Nicole’s death is currently being treated as unexplained, with the cause still being determined.
The Met’s Specialist Crime Command is now urging anyone with relevant information to come forward.
Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell, who is leading the investigation, said: “A formal murder investigation has not been launched at this time, and we are keeping an open mind as to the circumstances surrounding Nicole’s sad death.
“We want to hear from anyone who knew Nicole or may have information that could assist the investigation – and help us find answers for her family. My thoughts remain with Nicole’s family and loved ones.”
Nicole’s family continue to be supported by specialist officers, the force added.
