Ministry agency hosts leadership training book camp for Premiere Academy finalists

The Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre (CLTC) has concluded plans, in conjunction with the management of Premiere Academy, Abuja, to facilitate a leadership training boot camp for final year students of the school.

CLTC is a Federal Government agency under the Federal Ministry of Youths Development that provides informal, experiential leadership and citizenship education.

Modelled after Outward Bound, an international outdoor education network, it uses a wide range of outdoor expeditions and experiential learning to build character, resilience and teamwork in participants.

While praising the agency for offering to facilitate the 10-day training program, the school noted that inculcating sound leadership and citizenship training in the youths is an important ingredient of nation-building that should not be glossed over.

It further explained that the program will help participants to develop effective leadership skills and strong sense of responsibility, with strong focus on confidence building, discipline, teamwork and effective communication, among other important Life skills.

“CLTC’s core goals of using its Leadership training programs to promote strategic thinking, self-discovery, discipline and patriotism through physical and mental challenges complement the Premiere Academy’s vision of preparing students for life beyond secondary school.

“The program is therefore an important part of Premiere Academy’s commitment to developing students who are not only academically successful but also responsible, confident, disciplined and fully prepared to provide positive leadership in the society”, the Statement enthused.

Describing the boot camp as evidence of the school’s mission of entrenching a more empowered and productive secondary education level ecosystem, the Statement restated management’s readiness to sustain efforts geared towards training impactful future leaders for the nation.

“We fully understand the sacred duty of producing a community of vibrant, thoughtful, well-rounded, high-achieving and strategically focused problem-solving future leaders. We therefore aspire to sustain an environment where leadership training is not just a goal, but a way of life and through our series of impactful mentoring programmes, we keep taking significant steps towards embedding this culture into our students as a life-long attribute”.

It opined further that the transformation of lives and mindset engendered by the school’s policy of regularly organizing professional training and mentoring sessions enables its students to capitalize on new situations and challenges, thereby preparing them to strive to excel and be valued for all they achieve in every sphere

“These sessions help students to learn the compassion to support those who encounter difficulties and the maturity to take responsibility for themselves. Ultimately, this is a cardinal focus of the school in creating a future where every product stands out as a shining beacon of citizenship and a testament to the transformative power of education”, the Statement concluded.
