Osun Decides: Oyebamiji’s wife delivers landslide victory for husband at own Polling Unit

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has recorded a commanding victory at the polling unit of Dr Sekinah Oyebamiji, wife of the party’s governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, in Saturday’s Osun State governorship election.

At Polling Unit 003, Ward 9, AUD Primary School, Atile, Irewole Local Government Area, the APC polled 563 votes, overwhelmingly defeating the Accord Party, which secured 126 votes.

The result gave the APC a 437-vote margin, with 709 votes recorded at the polling unit.

The outcome triggered jubilation among APC supporters and residents as the votes were counted and announced.

Dr Oyebamiji had earlier cast her ballot at the polling unit, where she expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the election and praised the turnout of voters.

“The voters’ turnout is quite impressive. The INEC officials are conducting themselves professionally. There are police officers around,” she said.

She added: “I think the process is good so far. The expectation is that Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji will carry the day.”

The result is particularly significant for the APC candidate, as it came from the ward where his wife exercised her franchise and where she had been actively involved in the party’s mobilisation efforts ahead of the election.

Dr. Oyebamiji has played a visible role in the APC campaign, particularly in mobilising women and sensitising voters across the state.

The decisive margin recorded at the polling unit is therefore expected to strengthen the confidence of APC supporters as results from other polling units and wards continue to emerge.
