Theo Ukpaa, Tiger Republic Films strengthen West Africa TV footprint with multi-million-naira ZeeWorld partnership

Nigerian television producer Theo Ukpaa and his production company, Tiger Republic Films, are strengthening their position in West Africa’s television industry through a multi-million-naira production partnership with ZeeWorld, delivering a growing slate of locally produced entertainment formats for the broadcaster.

As the demand for original African content continues to rise, Ukpaa, the founder and Executive Producer of Tiger Republic Films, has built a production portfolio spanning reality television, educational programming, lifestyle content and live entertainment.

Over the past five years, Tiger Republic Films has expanded its operations into a major production outfit, combining international production standards with stories and formats tailored to African audiences.

The company’s growing relationship with ZeeWorld has seen it deliver several major productions, reinforcing its reputation as a production partner capable of executing large-scale television formats.

Building Premium African Television

One of the company’s flagship productions is Dance Naija Dance, a reality dance competition that brings Nigerian and Indian cultures together through music and choreography.

The programme features 16 Nigerian dance crews competing in a high-energy contest that combines Afrobeats with Bollywood-inspired choreography.

Hosted by Hero Daniels and Ifeoma Efiokwu, the show features a judging panel comprising renowned Nigerian choreographer Dr. Kaffy, dance personality Don Flexx, Bollywood choreographer Sachin, and actress and performer Divyaksha.

The competition offers a ₦10 million grand prize, while providing a national platform for emerging dancers and promoting cultural exchange between Nigeria and India.

According to Tiger Republic Films, the concept reflects its broader approach of developing entertainment formats that combine local talent with international creative influences.

Taking Education to Primetime Television

The company’s portfolio also includes Kellogg’s Superstar Quiz Show, an educational television competition that brings together pupils from different parts of Nigeria.

Hosted by television personality Tope Olowoniyan, the programme uses quizzes and interactive challenges to promote academic excellence, teamwork, confidence and leadership among young Nigerians.

Tiger Republic Films said the production demonstrates that educational content can be both informative and entertaining, particularly when designed to engage younger audiences.

The company has also expanded into lifestyle programming with Fusion Bites, a cooking series that explores the combination of Nigerian cuisine and international culinary influences.

The programme features chefs and influencers who showcase creative fusion dishes while highlighting the diversity and richness of African food culture.

Together, the productions have enabled Tiger Republic Films to establish a presence across several television genres, from reality entertainment and education to lifestyle programming.

Ukpaa’s Role in Production

At the centre of the company’s operations is Theo Ukpaa, whose responsibilities span creative development, format adaptation, production management, studio design, technical operations, talent coordination and broadcast delivery.

His ability to manage productions from concept development to final broadcast has contributed to Tiger Republic Films’ growth as a production partner for broadcasters and commercial brands.

The company has also built teams of creative, technical and production professionals capable of handling complex television productions while meeting the requirements of major broadcasters.

For Ukpaa, the objective extends beyond producing individual television programmes.

“Our goal has always been to create productions that are proudly African in their storytelling but global in their execution,” Ukpaa said.

“Every project is an opportunity to demonstrate that African production companies can deliver premium content that meets the highest international standards.”

Positioning African Content for the Global Market

Tiger Republic Films’ growing partnership with ZeeWorld comes at a time when African entertainment is attracting increasing global attention, investment and distribution opportunities.

The company said its strategy is focused on creating original formats that can connect with audiences locally while remaining competitive in international markets.

Through its productions, Tiger Republic Films is also creating opportunities for Nigerian dancers, actors, presenters, chefs, students and other creative professionals to participate in commercially viable television projects.

With multiple productions delivered for ZeeWorld and additional projects reportedly in development, the company is positioning itself for further expansion within Nigeria’s television and broader African entertainment market.

The partnership also reflects the growing role of Nigerian production companies in creating content for international broadcasters operating in Africa.

For Ukpaa and Tiger Republic Films, the ambition is clear: to build television productions that entertain audiences, develop African talent and demonstrate that world-class television can be produced from West Africa for audiences at home and around the world.
