Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand has urged his former club to sign Ollie Watkins from Aston Villa after missing out on Danny Welbeck.
Ferdinand stated this while speaking on his YouTube channel as he analysed Manchester United’s 2-0 defeat to Hull City at the weekend.
Man United failed to sign Welbeck this summer, as the England striker ended up joining Chelsea.
“The big question is, does United’s budget stretch to go and get an Ollie Watkins or someone like that now?” Ferdinand said.
“If Danny Welbeck was on the market, and he clearly was, that’s one who Man United should have gone for because he could still have had an important role to play, despite being happy to be on the bench at this stage of his career.
“I think they [Manchester United] will finish in the top four, and I would be happy with the top four,” he added.
