Troops arrest two suspected herders after attack in Plateau community

Troops of Sector 8, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), have arrested two suspected herders following an alleged attack on residents harvesting crops in Sabon Layi village, Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The incident occurred at about 1:30 pm on Monday, August 24, 2026, according to a post shared on X on Wednesday by security analyst Zagazola Makama.

Makama said the troops, deployed in Sabon Layi under Operation Hard Knock, responded to a distress call reporting an attack allegedly carried out by Fulani herders.

On arriving at the scene, the troops found an elderly woman who had sustained injuries during the incident.
