The Lagos State Baales Forum has pledged to mobilise grassroots support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Lagos State Deputy Governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The forum’s convener, Dr Seyi Bamigbade, made the commitment during a public engagement organised by the Lagos Division of the forum.
The meeting brought together traditional chiefs, community leaders and APC supporters to discuss mobilisation for Tinubu’s re-election and Hamzat’s governorship bid in Lagos.
Bamigbade said traditional community leaders were deeply rooted in their respective communities and were therefore well positioned to mobilise voters at the grassroots.
He said the forum was prepared to use its network across communities to support the APC candidates during the 2027 elections.
The forum also commended the Tinubu administration’s focus on infrastructure and national economic development, as well as what it described as its respect for traditional institutions.
The Lagos Division reaffirmed its support for Hamzat, citing his administrative experience, loyalty and understanding of the development blueprint of Lagos State.
The forum’s position is consistent with earlier mobilisation activities by the Lagos State Baales Forum. In August, the group said it had established dedicated coordinators across polling units in Lagos as part of its grassroots mobilisation strategy for the 2027 elections.
Bamigbade said the mobilisation effort would not be limited to Lagos, disclosing plans by the South-West Baales Forum to organise a region-wide endorsement of Tinubu and APC candidates across the South-West.
He said the endorsement ceremony was scheduled for October 7, 2026, in Abeokuta, Ogun State, where traditional community leaders from across the region were expected to converge.
According to Bamigbade, the initiative is intended to strengthen coordination among traditional institutions and deepen grassroots mobilisation ahead of the elections.
The Lagos Baales Forum has previously organised voter sensitisation and mobilisation activities, including its “Operation Show Your PVC” campaign, which it said was aimed at encouraging eligible residents to participate in the electoral process.
The forum has also publicly endorsed Tinubu for a second term and backed Hamzat’s governorship ambition in Lagos.
Bamigbade urged residents and community stakeholders to remain engaged in the electoral process, while the Lagos Division called for continued support for the APC at the state and federal levels.
