Anambra State Police have started deploying officers to schools and key locations as the new academic session begins.
The deployment is part of the Inspector-General of Police’s Safe School Initiative.
Police, sister security agencies and other stakeholders are stationed at designated schools and strategic locations across the state.
The operation aims to strengthen security around schools, teach pupils and students about personal safety, help them cross roads safely and provide other policing services.
Police are working with school authorities, teachers, parents, guardians and host communities to identify and prevent security threats early.
Officers deployed have been instructed to maintain visible presence, monitor activities around schools, assist students during arrival and closing times and respond quickly to security concerns.
Police Commissioner Nnanna Oji Ama reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting children, teachers, school authorities and the school community.
He urged school authorities, parents, guardians and students to stay alert and report suspicious persons or activities to police or other security agencies.
