Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has approved a new leadership for the State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board ahead of the 2027 Hajj exercise.
The governor appointed the District Head of Tirwun, Ambassador Sulaiman Santuraki, as chairman of the board, while the District Head of Gamawa, Alhaji Aliyu Abdulkadir Ahmed, also known as Chiroman Gamawa, was appointed deputy chairman.
The appointments take immediate effect.
The appointments followed the elevation of the Emir of Lere and the Emir of Gamawa from district heads to emirate stools.
In a related development, Mohammed appointed the Emir of Lere, Alhaji Nura Adamu Jumba, who previously chaired the pilgrims board, as the state’s Amirul Hajj for the 2027 Hajj exercise.
The governor commended the outgoing chairman and members of the board for their contributions to the administration of Hajj affairs and the welfare of pilgrims in the state.
He also expressed appreciation to the traditional rulers for their service to the state while congratulating the newly appointed chairman and deputy chairman.
Mohammed urged them to deploy their experience and commitment to effectively discharge their responsibilities, wishing them wisdom and success in their new roles.
The appointments were contained in a statement issued on Friday by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado.
