The people of Agudama-Epie Community in Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State are asking Governor Douye Diri to finish a model secondary school project that has been abandoned for years.
The community said the project started in 2007 under former Governor Goodluck Jonathan.
Despite promises from later administrations, it was never completed.
The state’s education commissioner confirmed that the government funded the school project but work stopped due to some challenges.
He said the government knows about it and will look into the matter soon, promising to get the contractor back to work.
The women leader of the community appealed to the governor to step in and ensure the school is finished.
She said completing it would let children in Agudama-Epie and nearby communities get quality education without having to travel long distances to other schools.
A former youth leader also said finishing the school would make it easier for students in the area to attend school.
Community members are hopeful that the current administration will make the project a priority and provide relief to the people.
