‘Davido’s always been my baby’ – Sister opens up on managing singer’s finances

Sharon Ademefun, the older sister of Nigerian music star Davido, has opened up about her close relationship with her younger brother and her role in managing his finances and career.

Sharon said she had been involved in Davido’s career from the beginning and currently serves as the Chief Financial Officer of his record label.

Speaking on an upcoming episode of The Morayo Show, she described their relationship as a close but sometimes confrontational one, saying she is willing to tell Davido things that others may hesitate to say.

“I’ve always taken care of David. He’s always been my baby,” Sharon said, explaining that she has remained part of his management team since the early stages of his career.

According to her, their close working relationship meant they frequently disagree, particularly over the singer’s spending habits.

“The problem is that me and David; we are always fighting. The one that other people can’t tell him, me, I’ll tell him,” she said.

Sharon identified Davido’s spending on jewellery and luxury cars as two of the areas where she frequently challenged him.

She said the pair held regular financial meetings to review how his money was being spent, stressing the importance of ensuring that the singer understood his financial position.

“One of the major things that I’m always getting on my brother is jewelry and cars,” she said.

Sharon added that she repeatedly urged the singer to slow down his spending on automobiles.

“If me and him sit down, we always have finance meeting every week because I think it’s important for him to know how his money is being spent. I always say, David, please, no more cars,” she said.
