The chairman of Esan West Local Government Area in Edo State has banned commercial drivers from wearing caps or materials linked to rival political parties.

Blessing Albert issued the warning at Onitsha Park in Ekpoma and immediately distributed All Progressives Congress branded caps to the drivers.

He said any driver found wearing non-APC political materials would be removed from the park, no matter their relationship with him.

The directive aligns with Governor Monday Okpebholo’s push to rally political support.

In October 2025, the governor had instructed commissioners to wear the Asiwaju cap to State Executive Council meetings.

Albert said the move supports the governor’s pledge to deliver 2.5 million votes from Edo State for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 election.

He urged drivers to back the President and governor, arguing that the administration’s road projects have boosted their businesses.
