Workers at the Federal Ministry of Education blocked the entrance to the ministry headquarters on Wednesday morning, preventing the Education Minister and Acting Permanent Secretary from entering their offices.
A video showed workers gathered at the entrance chanting “Alausa must go” as a motorcade carrying the minister arrived at the premises.
The protesters stopped the officials from getting into the building.
The protest is part of an ongoing dispute between ministry workers and the Federal Government over the proposed handover of King’s College, Lagos to its old boys association, plus other issues raised by worker unions.
The unions have previously demanded the removal of the minister and opposed the reported 35-year concession of the college.
Workers have also raised concerns about staff welfare and other administrative problems at the ministry.
The latest protest shows that tensions between ministry management and workers remain unresolved even after recent talks between the two sides.
