Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal has opened up about his experiences with racism, revealing he has faced it a thousand times throughout his rising career.

In an interview with former Argentina international Jorge Valdano on Spanish television, the 19-year-old explained that much of the bias he encounters is subtle, coming in the form of casual comments or looks that people make without even realizing they are being racist.

Yamal, who has faced targeted abuse during high-profile matches like El Clásico and across social media, shared a mature perspective on how he handles the insults.

He noted that simply calling him Black doesn’t bother him because it is who he is, but he recognizes when people are intentionally trying to offend him.

Despite the hostility from some fans, the Spanish star emphasized that he refuses to let abuse get under his skin or distract him while he is on the pitch.
