The Vice-Chancellor of Osun State University, Prof. Odunayo Clement Adebooye, on Thursday, September 10, 2026, laid the foundation stone for the construction of the University ICT Resource Centre at the Osogbo Campus of the institution.
In a statement issued by the university’s Public Relations Officer, Ademola Adesoji, the project, donated by the Federal Government under the Renewed Hope Agenda, is expected to strengthen the university’s Information and Communication Technology infrastructure and enhance technology-driven teaching and learning.
Speaking at the foundation-laying ceremony, the project contractor, Engineer Ojo, said the ICT Resource Centre would be a modern two-storey building equipped with facilities to support teaching, learning and other academic activities.
He said the facility would include fully furnished lecture halls capable of accommodating about 100 students, computer laboratories and other facilities designed to meet the technological needs of the university community.
Ojo added that the project was part of the Federal Government’s intervention aimed at developing critical infrastructure in tertiary institutions across the country.
Speaking on the development, Adebooye commended the First Lady of Osun State, Mrs Titilola Adeleke, for her efforts in facilitating the project for the university.
The Vice-Chancellor also expressed appreciation to the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for considering the university worthy of the intervention.
Adebooye described the project as a significant addition to the university’s infrastructure, noting that a modern ICT facility would enhance the institution’s capacity to equip students and staff with the digital skills required in the contemporary world.
He expressed confidence in the contractor’s ability to deliver the project within the stipulated timeframe and prayed that the facility would be completed as scheduled.
The Vice-Chancellor subsequently turned the sod, formally signalling the commencement of the construction.
The contractor is expected to complete the project in February 2027.
The ICT Resource Centre is expected to complement the university’s existing infrastructure and further strengthen its capacity to deploy technology-driven teaching, learning, research and other academic activities.
