A woman kidn@pped by suspected armed robbers on the Kassa–Barkin Ladi highway in Plateau State has managed to escape and is now receiving medical care.
She was taken Tuesday after robbers blocked the road with stones to stop passing vehicles.
The woman broke free in the early hours of Wednesday and made her way to safety.
She was taken to Heipang hospital where doctors are treating minor injuries she sustained during the incident.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama reported the development citing security sources.
Troops from Operation ENDURING PEACE stationed at Alpha Guard responded quickly and cleared the highway after the incident.
At the scene, soldiers found an ash-coloured Sharon vehicle with no registration number.
A security team has been tasked with verifying the details of how the woman managed to escape, including establishing where she broke free and gathering further evidence.
Security forces are intensifying their efforts to track down and arrest the suspected k!dnappers operating along that stretch of highway.
More information is expected as investigators complete their findings.
