Airtel Money has set the offer price for its planned initial public offering at £1.96 per share, valuing the mobile money business at about £5.3 billion or approximately $7 billion.
The planned listing marks a major step in Airtel Africa’s move to establish Airtel Money as an independently listed business on the London Stock Exchange.
According to an announcement by Airtel Africa Plc, Airtel Money intends to seek admission of its ordinary shares to the equity shares category of the Financial Conduct Authority’s Official List and to trading on the Main Market of the London Stock Exchange.
Admission is currently expected to take place on October 14, 2026.
Under the offer, certain existing shareholders of Airtel Money are expected to sell a combined 270 million existing shares.
A further 27 million shares may also be sold under an over-allotment option, bringing the potential total number of shares offered to 297 million if the option is fully exercised.
At the £1.96 offer price, the 270 million shares proposed for sale are valued at about £529.2 million, while the additional 27 million shares under the over-allotment option would be worth approximately £52.9 million.
This could bring the total value of shares offered to about £582.1 million if the over-allotment option is exercised in full.
Airtel Africa is not expected to sell its existing Airtel Money shares as part of the main offer, except through the over-allotment arrangement.
The telecommunications group said it intends to remain a long-term strategic shareholder in Airtel Money and continue supporting the business as it enters its next phase as an independently listed company.
Following the transaction, approximately 16.5 percent of Airtel Money’s issued ordinary share capital is expected to be in public hands if the over-allotment option is not exercised.
The public holding could rise to about 17.5 percent if the maximum number of additional shares available under the over-allotment option is sold.
Airtel Money also expects its free float to be sufficient to make the company eligible for inclusion in the FTSE UK indices.
The offer price announcement follows Airtel Africa’s September 23, 2026 disclosure confirming Airtel Money’s intention to proceed with an initial public offering.
Airtel Africa operates telecommunications and mobile money services across 14 African markets with Airtel Money forming a major part of the group’s digital financial services business.
The planned London listing would provide Airtel Money with a standalone public market valuation while allowing Airtel Africa to retain a strategic interest in the business.
