The Kulen Allah Cattle Rearers Association of Nigeria (KACRAN) has appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to extend the ongoing display of the Preliminary Register of Voters and distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) by one week.

In a press statement signed on Wednesday by its National President, Hon. Khalil Mohd Khalil, the association requested that the exercise, scheduled to end on October 15, be extended to October 22, 2026.

KACRAN said the exercise covers Nigerians who registered online or physically between August 18 and December 10, 2025, and is being conducted at ward headquarters across all local government areas.

The association said millions of Nigerians were unaware of the exercise, particularly those living in remote rural communities.

“While those residing in big cities, towns, and the elites who follow daily happenings in the national dailies, both print, electronic and social media are informed, the vast majority of Nigerians, especially our members who reside in remote rural areas and bushes, are completely unaware of what is going on,” Khalil said.

He expressed concern that many Nigerians, particularly in Northern Nigeria, where KACRAN has the majority of its members, were unaware of when the exercise began and when it would end.

KACRAN also noted that thousands of internally displaced persons across the North who registered online or physically were unaware that their PVCs were ready for collection.

“We have also observed that it is only with a one-week extension that we will be able to ensure that our members who did online or physical registration are able to go to their Ward Headquarters to collect their voter cards,” the statement said.

“In a country where 8 million plus votes can enable one to be duly elected President, millions of votes are not something to joke or play with,” Khalil added.

The association appealed to INEC to extend the deadline to prevent eligible voters from being disenfranchised.

“We are passionately appealing to INEC, as a matter of utmost importance, to kindly extend the deadline by one week, that is from 15th October, 2026 to 22nd October, 2026,” he said.

KACRAN also called on the 19 northern governors to declare Monday, October 19, and Tuesday, October 20, 2026, as work-free days for voter sensitisation if INEC grants the extension.

The association further urged media organisations to intensify public awareness campaigns and called on Nigerians who had yet to collect their PVCs to visit their respective ward headquarters before the deadline.
