The Northern Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, has called for a full-scale, independent, immediate, transparent, and thorough investigation into the assassination of Sheikh Masussuka.
The statement said there was a need to expose those responsible for the killing of the Islamic cleric, stressing that justice would not be gained by arresting mere foot soldiers but the need for government to unmask, prosecute, and publicly expose all masterminds, financiers, and covert accomplices involved, directly or indirectly, in the barbaric act.
A statement issued by its National President, lsah Abubakar, said the time has come for decisive action against impunity, saying that in line with international human rights standards, the security machinery of Katsina State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria must demonstrate the capacity and political will to protect citizens and hold assassin syndicates accountable.
According to the statement, “Let it be known to the authorities that the Northern youths will not sit idly by while our leaders and teachers are slaughtered with impunity. We are tracking every step of this investigation, and our patience is not infinite.”
Abubakar expressed what he called “shock and profound grief, righteous indignation, and an unwavering demand for justice following the brutal assassination” of the revered scholar and mentor, Sheikh Yahaya Masussuka.
He stated, “We say unequivocally to the bloodthirsty cowards who orchestrated and executed this heinous crime: your victims will be remembered forever, while you shall carry the eternal stain of your atrocity into damnation. Sheikh Masussuka’s killers and every hand that enabled them shall find no peace, no sanctuary, and no escape from the divine judgement of Almighty Allah and the unrelenting vengeance of history.”
He described Sheikh Masussuka as an intellectual colossus and a beacon of spiritual guidance, saying that they drew deeply from his “vast well of knowledge, benefiting immensely from his profound, uncompromising, and illuminating teachings of the Holy Qur’an.”
Abubakar noted that the cleric’s assassination is not merely an attack on an individual but a calculated assault on truth, scholarship, and the moral fabric of Northern Nigeria.
The youths declared that the Federal Government of Nigeria and the Katsina State Government owe the Nigerian public and the youths of the North in particular, the absolute responsibility of unravelling the deep-seated conspiracy surrounding Sheikh Masussuka’s death.
According to the statement, “The era of empty promises, superficial condolence messages, and decorative investigative committees is over. The state cannot remain passive while scholarly lights are extinguished by impunity.”
It prayed that Almighty Allah, SWT, grant Sheikh Masussuka eternal rest, accept his martyrdom, expand his grave with light, and bring swift, uncompromising exposure and destruction upon those who shed his innocent blood.
