The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, has arrested two men suspected of stealing a car during a routine patrol along the Eastern Bypass in Kano.
The suspects, identified as 61-year-old Abdullahi Sani and 63-year-old Abdullahi Suleiman, were arrested at Ladanai Junction while allegedly driving a red Toyota Carina II Wagon with registration number LFA 417 AA (Nasarawa).
According to the NSCDC, the vehicle was reported stolen three days before the suspects were intercepted at about 2 am while driving out of the Ladanai area.
The Command said Sani is a resident of Kurna Tudun Bojuwa, while Suleiman is from Kantudu in Dala Local Government Area of Kano State.
In a separate incident, NSCDC operatives also arrested a 45-year-old man, Suleiman Shehu, for allegedly vandalising an armoured cable belonging to Triumph Nigeria Limited in Bompai, Nassarawa Local Government Area.
The Command said Shehu is an employee of the company and was arrested after allegedly vandalising the cable.
The three suspects are currently in NSCDC custody and are undergoing preliminary investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the cases and their possible involvement in the alleged offences.
The command said the suspects would be prosecuted after investigations are completed.
The NSCDC Kano State Commandant, Mohammed Hassan Agalama II, commended the operatives for their prompt response.
“I commend the vigilance and professionalism of our operatives for their timely intervention. This arrest once again demonstrates the importance of routine patrols and intelligence-driven operations in preventing and combating criminal activities across the state, ” he added.
He also assured residents that the command would continue working with other security agencies and members of the public to protect lives and property.
“I assure the good people of Kano State that the Command will continue to strengthen its operations, in collaboration with other sister security agencies and members of the public, to protect lives and property,” he said.
