Tony Elumelu-controlled entities have increased their voting interest in Seplat Energy Plc to 21.07 percent after Heirs Energies Limited acquired six million shares in the energy company for approximately £53.22 million.

Seplat Energy disclosed that Heirs Energies Limited, a company controlled by Tony Elumelu, purchased 6,000,000 ordinary shares at £8.87 per share in a transaction executed in London on September 30, 2026.

The purchase raised Heirs Energies Limited’s direct holding in Seplat Energy to 27,943,867 shares.

Following the transaction, Heirs Energies Limited and Heirs Holdings Limited, both controlled by Elumelu, now hold a combined 126.4 million shares in Seplat Energy.

The combined holding represents a voting interest of 21.07 percent based on Seplat Energy’s issued share capital of 599,944,561 shares.

The development further increases the investment position of Elumelu-controlled entities in one of Nigeria’s major listed energy companies.

Elumelu currently serves as a Non-Executive Director of Seplat Energy, according to the company’s disclosure.

At £8.87 per share, the six million shares acquired by Heirs Energies were valued at approximately £53.22 million.

The transaction involved ordinary shares of Seplat Energy and was disclosed under rules governing transactions by persons discharging managerial responsibilities and persons closely associated with them.

Seplat said the notification was made in accordance with Rule 17.15(c) of the Nigerian Exchange’s Issuers’ Rulebook and Article 19(3) of the UK Market Abuse Regulations.

The latest acquisition places Elumelu-controlled entities firmly above the 20 percent voting-interest level in Seplat Energy, giving investors a clearer picture of the scale of their ownership position in the company.
