The Defence Headquarters, DHQ, says troops of the Armed Forces of Nigeria killed 201 terrorists across various theatres of operation in April as part of ongoing counter-insurgency efforts nationwide.
The Director of Defence Media Operations, Michael Onoja, disclosed this on Thursday in Abuja while giving an operational update on military activities across the country.
He said the operations also led to the rescue of 188 abducted civilians, including women, children, the elderly, farmers, and worshippers, while 284 suspects comprising logistics suppliers and collaborators were arrested.
According to him, several insurgents also surrendered to troops, while multiple terrorist enclaves were dismantled during the operations.
In the North-East under Operation Hadin Kai, troops neutralised 136 terrorists, arrested 114 suspects, rescued 18 victims, and recorded the surrender of nine insurgents.
In the North-West under Operation Fansan Yamma, 20 terrorists were killed, 32 suspects arrested, and 70 kidnapped victims rescued across several states.
In the South-South under Operation Delta Safe, troops destroyed illegal refining sites, arrested suspects, and recovered over 101,000 litres of petroleum products.
Onoja said the achievements reflect sustained pressure on criminal groups across the country, adding that the military remains committed to restoring peace and security.
The DHQ reaffirmed its determination to continue coordinated operations aimed at dismantling terrorist networks and criminal syndicates nationwide.
