Alvarez’s future at Atletico remains uncertain, with Barcelona and Arsenal both monitoring developments.

Julian Alvarez was absent from Atletico Madrid training on Wednesday morning as Arsenal continue to monitor his situation at the Spanish club.

According to Spanish newspaper Marca, Alvarez missed the training session because he was feeling unwell.

The Argentina striker was booed by some Atletico fans during the weekend as uncertainty continues over his future.

Alvarez is reportedly interested in joining Barcelona, but Atletico Madrid are unwilling to sell him to their LaLiga rivals.

The club would prefer to do business with Arsenal if the player decides to leave.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano also confirmed Alvarez’s absence from training.

Romano wrote on X that Alvarez missed the session because of illness and said Arsenal remain interested in the player if he becomes open to a move to the Premier League.

However, Romano added that Barcelona is the only club Alvarez has indicated as his preferred destination so far.

Arsenal are therefore waiting to see whether the situation changes before making further moves for the 26-year-old striker.
