The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL has increased its Premium Motor Spirit, PMS pump price.
A market survey by DAILY POST on Monday showed that NNPCL outlets in Gwarimpa, Wuse Zones 4 and 6, and other parts of Abuja had raised their petrol pump price to N1,345 per litre from N1,270.
This means that the state-owned oil company has increased its retail fuel price by N75 per litre.
“Our petrol pump price was raised to N1,345 per litre today (Monday),” an NNPCL filling station attendant, who preferred anonymity, told DAILY POST.
Meanwhile, MRS, Ranoil, Empire Energy and other Nigerian filling stations raised their petrol prices by between N20 and N80 per litre at the weekend.
This comes as Dangote Refinery increased its gantry petrol price by N65 to N1,265 per litre.
The mega refinery had threatened to restrict petrol sales to fuel importers and marketers as petrol imports surged to 43.3 percent in July, according to data from the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, NMDPRA.
DAILY POST reports that crude oil prices surged to $91.20 and $86.32 per barrel for Brent and West Texas Intermediate, WTI crude, respectively.
Recall that on August 25, NNPCL raised its petrol price by N20 to N1,270 per litre from N1,250.
