The naira continued its appreciation against the dollar at the official market on Monday, ending August on a positive note as it heads into September 2026.
Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, data showed that the naira further strengthened to N1,332.94 against the dollar on Monday, up from N1,337.29 traded on Friday last week.
This means that the naira appreciated by N4.35 against the dollar to end August on a strong note.
Meanwhile, at the black market, the naira remained at N1,400 per dollar on Monday, the same exchange rate recorded last weekend.
This comes amid the continued surge in the country’s foreign reserves, which rose to $53.51 billion as of August 28, according to data from the apex bank.
Recall that last week, the naira appreciated across foreign exchange markets to end the week on a positive note.
