A father broke down describing how lightning struck down his wife and two-year-old daughter in Margate, Florida on Sunday.
Kameron Glasgow stood just feet away as Kenya, 31, and their daughter Kennedi were hit around 2:30pm.
The family had arrived at his aunt’s house when weather worsened and they rushed to get the children inside.
Kameron felt the aftershock from the ground and turned to find his wife and daughter lifeless on the street.
Their twin daughter Kensli was still in the vehicle. Police and firefighters arrived and tried CPR, but both died shortly after reaching local hospitals.
Speaking at a news conference, Kameron said he lost his best friend and his surviving daughter lost her sister.
He posted on social media that his wife and daughter didn’t suffer and urged people to cherish the light they brought into the world.
He acknowledged the pain of losing someone he’d been with half his life but said he’d stay strong for Kensli.
He described losing her twin as something words cannot capture.
A neighbour heard thunder and saw an orange flash in the sky.
His son told him someone had been hit.
When the neighbour looked outside, he saw a lifeless body and rushed to help but arrived too late.
He described the scene as something he never wants to see again.
Lightning struck 120 times within 10 miles of Margate between 2:15pm and 2:45pm Sunday, with 84 hitting the ground.
There have been four lightning deaths in Florida this year.
