The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has approved the promotion of 7,472 employees, including 2,134 officers and 5,338 marshals, in an effort to enhance professionalism, leadership, and road safety operations across the country.
According to the corps, the promotion was intended to honor distinction and acknowledge the commitment, skill, discipline, and years of service of staff members who had excelled in carrying out their responsibilities.
Heads of Departments, Corps Officers, Heads of Special Units, and Commanding Officers have been instructed to decorate the newly promoted personnel under their respective commands from Wednesday, August 26 to Friday, August 28, 2026.
According to a statement posted on its social media page on Friday by Corps Public Education Officer, Federal Road Safety Corps, National Headquarters, Abuja, Osondu Ohaeri.
Shehu Mohammed, the Corps Marshal, urged the recipients to defend the trust placed in them, characterizing the elevation as both a prize and a duty.
“Every new rank must translate into a higher level of professionalism, accountability, leadership, and service delivery,” he stated.
He emphasizes that the effectiveness of the FRSC goes beyond its patrol cars, technology, and enforcement systems, emphasizing that the caliber and dedication of its staff continue to be crucial to creating safer roads.
“The quality, character, and dedication of the men and women who stand between road users and the consequences of unsafe road behavior is fundamentally what determines the strength of FRSC, not just its patrol vehicles, technology, or enforcement architecture,” Mohammed stated.
The newly promoted officers and marshals received congratulations from the corps marshal, who also urged them to view their promotion as a call to greater duty.
He exhorted them to “do more, lead better, and serve with greater distinction,” adding that the Corps, the Federal Government, and the Nigerian people had higher expectations with each additional stripe, pip, or insignia.
Mohammed also emphasized the importance of the newly promoted employees upholding the Corps’ integrity, treating members of the public with decency, and maintaining discipline both on and off the road.
The promotion coincides with the FRSC stepping up its operational, technological, and public education campaigns to lower traffic accidents and increase adherence to traffic laws across the country.
According to the corps, maintaining these interventions and producing quantifiable increases in road safety required a driven and highly trained personnel.
Reminding them that in the FRSC, rank is “earned, entrusted, and ultimately measured by service,” it encouraged the recently promoted staff to do their duties with a fresh sense of purpose.
As they take on their new duties in service to the country, the corps wished all of the promoted officers and marshals well and congratulated them.
