The German Embassy in Nigeria has warned residents against trusting so-called visa agents who give information about visa applications.
The embassy said people should get visa details straight from official sources instead of relying on agents who may spread false claims.
The mission posted the warning on its social media account Wednesday, urging Nigerians to avoid the hassle by asking the embassy directly.
It also asked people to share in the comments what visa agents have told them, saying it would address some of those claims in future posts.
The embassy stressed it does not work with any visa agents and clarified that all relevant information is freely available on its official website.
The warning comes as misleading information about visa applications and procedures continues to spread.
The embassy urged Nigerians to check information through official channels to avoid unnecessary costs, confusion and possible fraud.
