Nigerian firm launches Email platform for correcting messages after delivery

A Lagos-based digital product company, Aurum Digital Consulting Limited, has launched Afterwordmail, an email platform that the company says allows users to correct messages after they have been delivered.

According to the company, the platform is designed to address errors that can occur in business correspondence, including incorrect account details on invoices, outdated prices in quotations and changes to event information after an email has been sent.

Aurum Digital Consulting said users can revise the subject and body of a message after delivery, as well as replace, add or remove attachments. The company said recipients accessing the message through its link will see the updated version rather than an earlier version of the content.

The company said the system is particularly intended for situations where sending a second correction email could create confusion, especially when the original message has already been read, forwarded or filed separately.

Company says platform differs from email recall

Aurum Digital Consulting said Afterwordmail differs from conventional email recall functions offered by platforms such as Microsoft Outlook and Zoho Mail.

The company said those recall systems generally depend on specific organisational or platform conditions, while Afterwordmail uses a link that allows the sender to update the content after delivery.

According to the company, recipients do not need to use the same email provider as the sender. It said users can access the updated content through a web browser without installing software.

The company said the approach does not attempt to retrieve an email that has already reached a recipient. Instead, it allows the sender to update the content available through the link contained in the original message.

Changes are recorded, company says

Aurum Digital Consulting said the ability to modify sent messages is accompanied by a record of changes intended to address concerns about accountability.

The company said users have 48 hours after sending a message to make corrections, after which the content becomes permanently locked.

It also said each version is retained with a timestamp showing when it was replaced, while the record includes information about attachments associated with each version.

According to the company, recipients receive an email notification whenever a message is changed. It added that senders cannot alter or delete the version history, even if the live message is subsequently removed.

“In most mail clients, someone forwarding an email can edit the text they are quoting, and the person receiving that forward has no way of telling from the message itself,” Aurum Digital Consulting said.

“The difference is not that we allow edits. It is that ours are recorded. One record, every version kept, every change timestamped, and the recipient told each time something changes.”

Platform targets business correspondence

Aurum Digital Consulting said it developed Afterwordmail in Nigeria and intends to serve users in African and international markets.

The company said the platform is being used for business communications such as invoices, quotations, payment instructions and event information, although it did not provide independent user figures.

It said the service is priced at ₦3,500 per month in Nigeria following a 30-day free trial.

The company also said the platform forms part of its broader strategy of developing software for specific industries and business needs.

Aurum Digital Consulting’s other products, according to the company, include ClaimLensIQ, which it describes as a claims fraud intelligence platform for Nigerian insurers; WingWatch Nigeria, an aviation consumer rights platform; Football FanIQ, a sports fan intelligence platform; and InsightEx, a capital markets intelligence dashboard covering the Nigerian Exchange.

The company said its focus on sector-specific software stems from what it considers gaps in the ability of some international products to address local market requirements.

“The pattern we keep finding is that these industries are underserved, not because the problems are unusual, but because nobody has built for them specifically from here,” the company said.

Afterwordmail is a product of Aurum Digital Consulting Limited, a Lagos-based digital product studio.
