Veteran Nollywood actor and filmmaker, Prince Jide Kosoko, has reportedly been diagnosed with cancer, with his daughter and fellow actress, Temilade Kosoko, making an emotional appeal for urgent medical assistance for her father.
Temilade made the appeal in an emotional video circulating online, saying the family discovered her father’s condition about three weeks ago and has since been struggling to find a hospital willing to provide the treatment he needs.
According to her, the family is not seeking financial assistance, but urgently needs access to medical professionals and a hospital capable of treating the veteran actor.
She appealed to anyone with connections to suitable medical facilities or specialists to intervene, stressing that her father remains determined to survive.
“Please, if you know somebody that knows somebody that will be willing to treat him,” she pleaded. “This man has a strong will to live.”
Temilade said Kosoko’s condition was not immediately apparent to the family, noting that he did not initially look seriously ill.
“If you see him, you can’t even know that something is wrong that bad. It’s just starting to show. We didn’t even know until like three weeks ago,” she said.
She also disclosed that a family member, whom she identified as Yayi, had already provided significant assistance, but stressed that what the family urgently requires is medical intervention.
“My big uncle, Yayi, has helped. He has been of great help,” she said.
Temilade reiterated that the family was not appealing for money, but for access to treatment and medical expertise that could give her father a chance to recover.
“We’re not here to ask for money. Nobody’s asking for money. But please, if you know somebody that knows somebody that can…” she said in the video.
Appealing for assistance, she said the family was willing to explore every possible medical option available.
“Please, we’re begging you. If you know somebody that knows somebody that will be willing to treat him, anything, we’re willing to try anything,” she said.
The actress became visibly emotional as she spoke about the possibility of losing her father.
“I can’t watch my daddy die. I can’t. I can’t. Please, I’m begging you,” she said.
Kosoko is one of the most recognisable veterans of Nigeria’s film industry, with a career spanning several decades as an actor, filmmaker and producer.
