Osun has warned us in Kwara, APC chieftain tells party leaders

Engr. Femi Sanni Araba, an All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in Kwara State, has congratulated Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke on his victory in the governorship election, describing the outcome as a timely reminder of the need for internal cohesion, fairness and inclusion within political parties.

Araba also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for providing an enabling environment for a credible electoral process and praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its conduct of the election.

He urged APC stakeholders in Kwara State to draw lessons from the Osun experience, particularly the importance of resolving internal differences through dialogue, fairness and reconciliation ahead of the 2027 elections.

“Every political family will have differences, and the strength of a party lies in how it manages those differences. There is a time to win and a time to lose. Politics requires the wisdom to win some and lose some, because today’s winner may need yesterday’s loser tomorrow,” Araba said.

He cautioned against dismissing concerns raised by party members as opposition to the APC or its leadership, urging stakeholders to give such concerns a fair hearing and assess them on their merits in the overall interest of the party.

“The concerns being expressed by different stakeholders within APC Kwara should not necessarily be viewed as opposition to the party or its leadership. They should be given a fair hearing and assessed on their merits, with the overriding objective of strengthening the party,” he said.

Araba called on the APC National Working Committee to carefully examine the various concerns and positions emerging within the Kwara chapter, listen to all sides and determine what would best serve the party.

“Every concern raised within a political family deserves to be heard before it becomes an electoral post-mortem,” he said.

He further warned against exclusion within the party, stressing that individual interests should not supersede the collective interest of the APC.

“No tendency should feel excluded, and no individual interest should be allowed to override the collective interest of APC,” Araba said.

According to him, the Osun election demonstrates that internal disagreements can either be managed constructively or allowed to become deeper electoral liabilities.

He said while disagreements, when properly handled, could strengthen a political organisation, unresolved grievances could become more difficult to address once an election campaign begins.

Araba congratulated Adeleke and the people of Osun State on the election outcome, while urging APC members in Kwara to remain united and place the long-term interests of the party above personal ambitions.

“Osun has given us a lesson. We should have the wisdom to learn from it without having to experience the same outcome. The task before us is to build a stronger, more united APC in Kwara, where every genuine concern is heard and every decision is guided by fairness, merit and the collective interest of the party,” he said
