Atiku Abubakar’s Senior Political Assistant, Demola Olarewaju, has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of attempting to subvert the Osun governorship election.

Olarewaju claimed the APC laid siege to the state “like bandits” in the weeks preceding Saturday’s election but failed to overturn the will of the electorate.

Writing on X, he described the election result as a warning that Nigerians would also reject the ruling party in the 2027 general election.

He alleged that APC members harassed political chieftains, attacked residents and destroyed state infrastructure in an attempt to weaken Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration.

Olarewaju also accused the ruling party of seeking to cripple the Osun Government through the freezing of its bank accounts before the election.

He further speculated that an unnamed APC governor might have provided intelligence to Adeleke’s camp about the activities of APC chieftains during the election.

However, Olarewaju admitted that he had no evidence to substantiate the claim.

The political aide argued that defeating the APC would require support and intelligence from within the ruling party, claiming the ADC possessed such an advantage through former officials of the Muhammadu Buhari administration.
