Police in Benue State have arrested five suspects connected to a motorcycle and car theft ring operating across Benue and neighboring states.

They’ve recovered two red Bajaj motorcycles and a Toyota Corolla.

The operation started when a Gboko resident filed a complaint about his red Bajaj motorcycle worth N1.34 million that was taken from him.

A suspect had asked to borrow the bike, promising to return it the next day, but never did.

Detectives investigating the case used tracking methods to find the main suspect.

During questioning, they discovered he was involved in stealing other motorcycles and a Corolla as well.

These vehicles had been taken to Taraba State.

Police traveled to Taraba and arrested an accomplice and three other suspects involved in the theft ring.

The recovered motorcycles and car are being kept as evidence.

Authorities say more members of the gang are still at large and they’re working to find other stolen vehicles.

The police commissioner is asking residents to stay alert and report any suspicious activity or criminal behavior.

He promised the police will keep protecting people and their belongings and make sure everyone involved in these crimes faces justice.

The investigation is still ongoing.
