Nollywood producer and movie director Dimbo Atiya has passed on. The news of his death was announced by the founder of the Best of Nollywood Awards, Seun Oloketuyi, via his Instagram page.
He revealed that the director passed away on Thursday morning, noting that he will share more details surrounding his demise later.
”Dimbo Atiya is dead. The top Nollywood director passed on this morning. Details later,” he wrote.
Nollywood actor, Mofe Duncan, also confirmed the tragedy, taking to his Instagram page to mourn the loss.
”God no, not Dimbo. I’m devastated. One of the greatest minds of the entertainment industry,” he stated.
The news of the producer’s death came hours after the death of actress Tope Osoba. Popularly known for championing and celebrating northern culture in contemporary storytelling, Dimbo carved a distinct niche for himself in the entertainment industry.
He successfully exported regional talents to the mainstream national stage, giving numerous actors and crew members from the north their big breaks.
