Troops Rescue 14 Kidnap Victims From Terrorists in Katsina

Soldiers of the Joint Task Force operating in the North West have rescued 14 people who were being held by t£rrorists during a counter-operation in Katsina State.

The rescued victims six men and eight women were freed on Tuesday, August 18, after troops received reliable information about t£rror elements moving through Madaci Forest with captives.

The soldiers quickly moved to the area and made contact with the armed group.

During the confrontation, the troops engaged the t£rrorists, who abandoned the hostages and scattered into nearby bush.

After searching the area, the soldiers successfully freed all 14 victims.

Initial investigations showed the captives had been taken from several different locations across the Dandume, Bakori and Funtua areas of the state.

The rescued people were then handed over to local government authorities so they could be reunited with their families.

A military spokesman said the operation showed how determined troops are to protect lives and stop t£rrorists from carrying out crimes across the region.

He added that soldiers will keep putting pressure on armed groups and will increase operations to keep communities safe across the North West.

The military asked members of the public to keep providing accurate information to security forces to help with ongoing counter-t£rrorism efforts.
