Operations at one of the top hotels in Abuja, the Abuja Continental Hotel were disrupted on Monday morning as a result of picketing activities of members of Hotel and Personal Service Senior Staff Association.
The Association, an affiliate of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), is picketing the Abuja Continental Hotel over alleged unfair labour practices and indecent working conditions.
The Union also accused the hotel of opposing unionisation of its workers.
Members of the Association had arrived as early as 6am at the hotel gates armed with placrads calling for the unionisation of staff.
The picketing exercise was led by General Secretary of the TUC, Nuhu Toro.
He also said the Congress will continue to disrupt activities at Abuja Continental until their demands are met.
However, some staff of the hotel staff also displayed banners opposing the call for unionization.
The entrance to the hotel is blocked as at the time of writing this story.
