Osuntomi said the rehabilitation had brought relief to visitors and tourists who previously found it difficult to access the river site.
Worshippers of the Osun Osogbo River and visitors to the Osun Osogbo Festival on Friday in Osogbo commended Gov. Ademola Adeleke of Osun for the rehabilitation of roads leading to the grove.
One of the devotees, Mrs Kabirat Osuntomi, said before the roads were rehabilitated by the present administration, many visitors had questioned why the access roads to the grove were left in poor condition.
Osuntomi said the rehabilitation had brought relief to visitors and tourists who previously found it difficult to access the river site.
She called for continuous maintenance of the roads and rehabilitation of other defective infrastructure within the grove.
Also, a traditional worshipper, Mr Musiliu Oguntoye, said more support was needed from relevant stakeholders to ensure that the UNESCO World Heritage Site met global standards.
Oguntoye added that increased sponsorship of the annual festival was necessary to make it more colourful and unique.
Mrs Adunni Awotunde, a resident within the grove commended the state government for bringing relieve to the route that had witnessed thousands of visitors annually.
Awotunde urged the government not to relent in ensuring that other parts of the grove are renovated and rehabilitated to attract more tourists and visitors.
The state government, through the Ministry of Works, recently rehabilitated and repaired roads leading to the grove to facilitate the free movement of visitors and tourists into the sacred site.
The Arugba is expected to carry the sacred Calabash to the river side as a sacrifice to appease the river goddess at the grand finale on Friday.
