Nollywood actress Adunni Ade has said many of her Christian fans abandoned her after she publicly revealed her religion.
Speaking in an interview, the movie star said she couldn’t openly identify as a Muslim because of the nature of the entertainment industry.
She alleged that being Muslim in Nollywood is almost forbidden.
When she eventually found courage to speak publicly about her faith and said Islam works for her, some Christian fans unfollowed her on social media.
Ade said that in her line of work, it is almost forbidden to publicly say you are Muslim and that people look down on you for doing so.
For her, Islam is not just about outward appearance but what is inside and how you treat others.
She said she came out publicly with her religion because she was tired of keeping it a secret.
She has visited different churches and is not saying Christianity is bad.
She was just saying what works for her is Islam.
She lost some fans for revealing she is Muslim.
They unfollowed her and some even sent her direct messages asking to cast out whatever spirit they thought was in her.
Some were praying for her. Many Muslims embraced her.
But she said she does not really care about it because it is just for her and what works for her.
