Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has said he will not seek revenge against anyone who has wronged or injured him despite the support he once gave them.
El-Rufai said his main concern is to remain at peace with his conscience, adding that he believes ultimate judgment belongs to God.
The former governor made the statement in an article titled, “My Relationships and the Aftermath.”
He said he would not seek revenge or punishment for any injustice, ingratitude or injury done to him.
“As for any injustice, ingratitude or injury done to me, I seek neither revenge nor retribution,” El-Rufai said.
He added that he had left the matter of accountability to Almighty Allah, both in this world and in the hereafter.
“Ultimate accountability belongs to Almighty Allah, and I leave that judgment to Him, in this world and in the Hereafter,” he said.
El-Rufai also said people would eventually have to live with the consequences of the decisions they make.
“In the end, each of us must live with the choices we make, and posterity will render whatever verdict it sees fit,” he said.
The former governor said his priority was to remain at peace with his conscience and maintain his relationship with God.
His comments come as he remains in the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
The ICPC is investigating allegations of corruption, abuse of office and money laundering linked to his tenure as Kaduna State governor.
The commission said El-Rufai is being held under a court remand order.
