Folarin Balogun set to return to Premier League in €45m Everton deal
Everton have reached an agreement with French Ligue 1 club Monaco to sign American striker Folarin Balogun in a deal worth up to €50 million.
The agreement includes a guaranteed transfer fee of €45 million, while another €5 million could be paid to Monaco as part of the add-ons included in the deal. The agreement also contains a sell-on clause.
Balogun is now set to return to the Premier League, where he began his professional career with Arsenal.
The striker came through the Arsenal academy and progressed through the club’s youth teams before making his senior debut. He later left the English club in search of regular first-team football and eventually moved to France.
His performances in France helped him attract interest from several clubs, with Everton now moving to secure his services.
The 25-year-old striker is expected to play an important role in Everton’s attack following the departure of Beto, who has joined Italian Serie A club Fiorentina.
Everton have been looking to strengthen their attacking options, and Balogun’s arrival is expected to provide the club with another option in front of goal.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Everton and Monaco had reached an agreement for the transfer.
Romano wrote on X that the deal was for a €45 million fixed fee, with another €5 million in add-ons and a sell-on clause also agreed.
He added that Monaco were ready to allow Balogun to leave, while negotiations over the player’s personal terms were still ongoing.
The final stage of the transfer will involve agreeing personal terms with the striker before the deal can be completed.
Balogun’s return to England will give him another opportunity to establish himself in the Premier League after his spell away from the country.
The move to Everton could also provide the striker with a fresh challenge as he looks to continue his development and make a strong impact in English football.
